wow. i’ve come to the realization i’m a horrible blogger. i haven’t updated since august 23rd! i kind of have a good excuse though – i’ve been super sick for a little while trying to get over whatever i have. thankfully, i’m starting to feel a teenie bit better. and i’ve also, i’m just not a good blogger. there, i said it.

on a happier note, my long time family friends renewed their vows last weekend and it was nothing short of amazing. i was totally honored to shoot their wedding that took place at rancho las lomas. their wedding was so memorable.

and i must say i was so excited to have my hubby, Justin, assist for this wedding! he did a wonderful job and i am super proud of him!

thank you matt and kim for letting us document your amazing day. Hands down (seriously), coolest wedding ever. and, we wish you 20 more years of happiness and love.

Iheartfaces: Beach Fun

this week on iheartfaces is beach fun! we haven’t had a lot of great summer days in orange county this past summer…surprisingly! this photo was taken last summer of my niece and nephew. it was one of the first photos i took when i first started this business. i fell in love with this photo when I originally took it and i fell in love with it again when i searched my photos for beach themes. the carefree vibe makes me want to go to the beach this very second and just run..i love that about this photo, and i love that it is still one of my favorites.

Lifestyle: Newport Beach Family Session

we really take breathing for granted. i know it’s kinda random and weird to say. but we do! i’ve been sick with a cold for about a week and went to the doctor today..turns out i have a respiratory infection. which turns out to be pretty painful. it hurts to breathe deep. so, i’ve been an annoying complaining wife for the past couple days. sorry babe. rest is what the doctor ordered…which is so boringgggg. normally we don’t do anything crazyyy but when we’re forced to stay home it is not very fun. with that said, i hope to get better…quick! because watching mtv true life reruns from 8 years ago is not my idea of “fun”.

on a better note – i had the pleasure of shooting a family last weekend at newport beach ..it was packed! but, we managed to find an area that was perrrfect and had some fun in the orange county sun. <— that was really cheesy. :p the session was great! I went to highschool with tritia and her man, rusty. wow, i feel old. we graduated 8 years ago…ayyyye. tritia has a beautiful son, hunter (love that name) and he was the cutesttttttt…seriously, shooting all these family sessions is really giving me THE ITCH. big time. tritia, thank you for letting me document your beautiful family! and i can’t wait to do it again!

Iheartfaces: Surprise!

This week on iheartfaces is all about surprises! I was looking at some of my first photos I had ever taken and found this one of my nephew. He is in total surprise mode! I think it is super cute – it’s surprised mixed with a little bit of embarassed – you can’t help but smile when you see it

Also, I have my old font logo on this photo which brings back memories when I first started the business. Good times

Perfect Moments.

Have you ever thought about your life and just cried? Not because you’re upset with the way things turned out. But, because you are so incredibly grateful and happy beyond belief?

That was me yesterday morning.

You may think it’s weird, and even I was thinking..what am I doing? Why am I so emotional?? But, the setting was perfect. Well, almost perfect. I was driving to work, the sun was shining (kind of) and I was playing the greatest song. And, the moment was amazing. I was just driving thinking about life and how great everything is and how incredibly thankful I am. Next thing I know…tears. The only thing missing was my hubby..and our dog.

I talk a lot about being grateful and thankful because I never want to forget where I was before this. I never want to forget the feeling of working a 9 to 5 job because it was so terrible. I never want to forget who helped/encouraged this business. I am still amazed when people really dig our photos. When people get inspired by us. When they ask us questions. When they contact us for photography. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mixing those feelings up with a lack of self confidence. Which I admit, I have done in the past. These feelings are thoroughly grateful and incredibly fortunate. I know how it is to want to do something more with your life when feeling trapped doing something you can’t put your whole heart into. I encourage everyone to take the leap. Go for it. There’s never going to be a “right time” for anything. Sure, it will be crazy and scary, but what isn’t? Everything you’ve never done before is always scary at first but then after that first jump – its pure joy. Unless it’s bungee jumping, then I would still hate it. :p

If you’ve read this blog before you know I always talk about my hubby, Justin. He is my rock. There is no way I could have done this without him backing me up 110%. He is the perfect husband. I may be a little biased but he really is! There would be times when I didn’t even look up from the computer for hours, times where I forgot to breathe, so many times when he was my only model and I would constantly photograph him even though he hated it, times where I felt like everything was crashing around me. He was always there to pick me up, and to slap some sense into me I love you, babe. You are my hero and my inspiration. I love you more than anything and I am so proud that I am YOUR wife.

Please enjoy these photos of myself and Justin. Just enjoying life, enjoying our marriage, soaking it all in. And, being complete dorks. :)

*Side Note* If you’re following this blog you know I’ve been talking A LOT about the Paul Frank Art Contest I’m in. Well, out of 1800+ we have made it to the TOP 5!! I am so excited beyond belief!! And incredibly honored! What happens now is we need to submit another piece of art incorporating Julius (the monkey) and then they will decide on a winner. Fingers crossed!!

Lifestyle Session: The Carter Family

I had the pleasure of shooting an adorable family this past weekend. Nancy, her sweet 2 boys, as well as Nancy’s sister, and mother. I went to highschool with Nancy and it is still so crazy to me how everyone is all grown up now with kids…doing their own thing…being “adults”. Makes me feel so old haha

But, inspite of feeling old, I love being able to capture these moments and have families cherish their photos for a lifetime. I am so pleased with the way the photos came out. Thankfully, the sun decided to make an apperance(for a little while) this weekend and it was kind to my camera.

Iheartfaces: Purple!

This week on iheartfaces is all about purple! i have to admit..purple is not one of my favorite colors…i am more fond of the earth tones like green, blue, brown, etc. BUT, i do love how purple pops in photos!

i choose this photo below from a session i did a few weeks ago. Isn’t this little girl the cutest?? I love how the purple flower pops and it goes so beautifully with her skin tone. Plus, the tutu she’s wearing is adorable

This week on iheartfaces is “over my head” shots! I’m going to be honest, I didn’t have that many to choose from. But, I loved the ones that I did have and found it a little hard to choose.

I finally decided on this photo taken a few months ago of the sweetest couple in the world. In wanted to incoporate some balloons in a few shots and i love how the balloons peak through over their heads. Plus, the passion in this just oozes out and makes it so much better

Are we REALLY supposed to be here…??

This was our first thought when we walked into the Paul Frank Shindig on Spring Street Thursday night.

Let me back up a little. We drive down to LA, try to park for an hour because every parking lot is full and there are “one way” streets everywhere. Finally we park. We make our way across the street to the showcasing. We go in and I’m shocked to see on the wall “The 20 Survivors”. There are only 20! Out of everyone that entered this art contest. That was a really proud moment for me. I’ll never forget it. And, surprisingly my entry was the only actual photo of the 20 finalists.

We were totally out of our element at this party. We acted like dorks and took lots of photos of the showcased wall. It was so crazy to see people walking up to the photo and smile and talk to eachother about it. It was very surreal to me. But, I’m finally feeling that we deserved to be there. I have worked really hard to get things where they are today. It hasn’t always been peachy…but it’s always been a great experience. And, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I’m very grateful for this experience. I never win anything…ever. So, for this to happen is pretty damn awesome. Even if I don’t win, (because all of the other entries are amazinggggg) I’m so proud to have made it this far and be selected as part of “The 20 Survivors”.

If you would have told me a year ago I’d be where I am today in my career, I would have probably laughed in your face. But, to see it all happening right now, is such a rewarding feeling. It makes me feel like I’m doing what I should be and I’m headed in the right direction.

I absolutely could not be where I am today without Justin. He has supported me, loved me, believed in me more than anyone. He is my strength. And, the best husband anyone could ever wish for.
